Canopus(α Car) este cea mai luminoasa stea din constelatia Carena.Ea este cea de a doua cea mai luminoasa stea de pe bolta cereasca,avand magnitudinea de 0,72 pe timpul noptii.Canopus este intrecuta de steaua Sirius,avand magnitudinea de 1,44.
